What a caretaker can do
Caretaker is a read-and-create role, not a full owner substitute. A caretaker sees only the properties they're explicitly assigned to, and can create and track maintenance tasks for those properties — they can't approve quotes, release payouts, or see properties they aren't assigned to.
Inviting a caretaker
From the owner dashboard, send a caretaker invite by email. The invite carries a token tied to your workspace — the caretaker registers (or accepts, if already a Hubit caretaker elsewhere) using that token, and a property assignment follows.
An owner can assign or remove a caretaker's properties at any time from the property's caretaker list — access updates immediately.
The caretaker workflow
- See a dashboard scoped to only their assigned properties
- Report an issue — creates a maintenance task in the same pipeline vendors and owners use
- Track task status through to completion
- Edit their own profile — name, phone, photo
FAQs
Can one caretaker work across multiple owners' workspaces? Yes — a caretaker account can hold assignments in more than one workspace if invited to each.
